Lil Wayne may be off to jail, but the music won’t stop! Check out this classic freestyle from DJ Whoo Kid’s archives – Wayne rocking a bucket hat, icy grill and barely-there dreads before Tha Carter dropped in 2004!

“I did it overnight, it couldn’t happen any quicker,” Drake raps on his new single “Over,” which premiered yesterday on his native Toronto’s Flow 93.5. After scoring a major hit and Grammy nods with “Best I Ever Had” and headlining the all-star “Forever,” Drake ascended to the top of the rap game without even releasing an official debut album. After signing with his mentor Lil Wayne’s Young Money last year, that debut LP, Thank Me Later, is due out this May, and “Over” is the first peek at what Drizzy has in store for his much anticipated first album. Grab a free download of “Over,” both the explicit and the clean versions, on Drake’s October’s Very Own blog.

Produced by Drake’s in-house producer Boi-1da and Al Khalliq, “Over” finds Drake rapping with a more aggressive flow compared to the laid-back vibe of “Best I Ever Had,” with Drake’s cadence marching along with the track’s military beat before slowing down on the strings-laden chorus. “I could teach you how to speak my language, Rosetta Stone / I swear this life is like the sweetest thing I’ve ever known,” Drake rhymes before boasting, “About to go Thriller, Mike Jackson on these niggas / all I need is a fucking red jacket with some zippers.”

“This record sums up where I am right now in my career,” Drake told Flow 93.5 (Listen to the full interview over atNah Right.) “I think it’s a great first impression. The album is going to be a great body of work for you to get lost in. Right now I just wanna have some fun.” While “Over” is more than enough to get us excited for Thank Me Later’s May arrival, Nah Right says Drake and Lil Wayne shot the music video for their collaboration on the album this week (since Weezy is prison-bound) and that song has been dubbed “a banger.” As Rolling Stone previously reported, Kanye West and Jay-Z will also guest on Drake’s debut.

A few weeks ago, former Roc-A-Fella member Beanie Sigel released a diss song titled “What You Talkin Bout (I’m Not Your Average Cat),” aimed at then labelhead and friend Jay-Z. Now, the Philadelphia-raised rapper gives Billboard.com readers an exclusive snippet of his upcoming track, “I Go Off,” featuring his rumored soon-to-be boss, 50 Cent.

“I’ll give you something to talk about / come around me fronting, I’ll air you out / I go off,” 50 harmonizes at the beginning of the song atop a drum-heavy, winded production. “I don’t shoot sh*t off, dog, I gun it down / walk up on n*ggas and run them down / pull a stock out the K, throw a hundred rounds,” Beanie rhymes with conviction.

The eight bars conclude with the Broad Street Bully menacing, “Won’t stop ’til your box lowered to the ground / put you in a urn, your bones are burn / The rap gorilla, the wack rap ringtone killa, I’m here / to find a n*gga equally realer is rare / you could meet me in the square if you dare to come near / I have no morals.”

The song — which will be released in its entirety on Friday (Nov. 13) on 50 Cent’s blog site, thisis50.com — is the first track from Beanie’s as-yet-untitled upcoming album. Although G-Unit reps were mum about whether Beanie would be signing to or releasing the project on G-Unit, they did hint at an announcement in relation to the deal being made in coming days.

On Oct. 30, Beanie Sigel’s “What You Talkin Bout (I’m Not Your Average Cat)” leaked to the internet. The track finds him revealing scathing lyrics about his split from Roc-A-Fella Records.

“I’m A Grown Ass Man, I don’t sit on n*ggas laps / I ain’t looking for no gifts out of Santa Claus’ sack,” Beans rhymes on the track, in response to Jay’s line on “What We Talkin’ About” off his latest “Blueprint 3″ album.

He goes on to rap about Jay-Z calling “the police on me, ’cause I was front row at the ‘Blueprint 3′,” and not visiting him while he served his “year and a day when you ain’t come to see me,” among other accusations. “How it feel to get exposed? Don’t you feel naked? / I was a fly on the wall, sh*t I witnessed / I can say sh*t that make B look at you different,” he continues, referencing Jay-Z’s famous wife Beyonce.

The same day he released the track, Beanie Sigel went on Philadelphia radio station 100.3 and spoke about his disappointments about Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella, giving kudos to 50 Cent for handling his label in what he deemed a fairer manner. A few days later, Beanie made a guest appearance on Philadelphia’s Power 99 along with 50 Cent, further fueling the speculation that he would actually be signing to the label this time around. During the interview, 50 Cent stated that he offered Beanie $800,000 to join G-Unit upon his release from prison, but that Jay blocked the deal from materializing.

Give Lil Wayne some credit. He treats his ability to rap as a craft on par with any other skill or trade. Practice makes perfect. Since striking out on his own as a solo artist some years ago, Wayne has probably recorded more songs and verses than many will in their entire career. The practice worked. The man has made his millions through almost complete saturation of the hip-hop radio and blog circuit. Scarcely a week goes by without a new track, feature or news of one. While No Ceilings is merely one of a plethora of Lil Wayne-related releases currently planned or already on the market, it is notable for breaking current hip-hop tradition by eschewing Auto-Tune. Just the man, the mic and the track.
